strategy.

Every role starts with a foundation of understanding: the company’s North Star business goals, the industry landscape, and the target user demographics. Building direct relationships with users is central to my process, allowing me to uncover unspoken needs and contextual insights. With this clarity, I ground design decisions in both user needs and business objectives, setting the stage for meaningful and practical solutions. Each effort moves the needle for the company while delivering value to users.

No two projects require the same tools. In design, I view the process as a toolkit to draw from, depending on the challenge at hand. For projects in uncharted territory or aimed at disrupting an industry, I rely on a broader set of tools—like user research, iterative prototyping, and usability testing—to uncover opportunities and chart the best path forward. For well-established features or common platform functionality, I lean on best practices and existing knowledge to streamline delivery while maintaining quality.

At Pearson, where millions of students and teachers relied on educational tools, stability and usability were paramount. This required a process rooted in rigorous usability testing prior to implementation to ensure these tools were intuitive, accessible, and ready to support critical school year transitions. In contrast, my work at Lessen required agility to meet rapidly evolving needs—shadowing field operations to uncover pain points and testing solutions directly in the field. Feedback from these real-world scenarios enabled us to rapidly refine tools and deliver value tailored to operational demands.
